• Our department was established within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Dokuz Eylül University as a result of the decision of the Council of Higher Education meeting on 27/07/1995, together with the General Sociology and Methodology, Sociology of Institutions, Applied Sociology and Sociometry Departments affiliated to the department.

• It started accepting undergraduate students in the 2014-2015 academic year.

• Our department, which had both formal and evening education undergraduate programs in 2014, has been providing only formal education since the 2020-2021 academic year.

• As of 2015, we have been accepting students with our master’s program,

• As of 2020, we have been accepting students with our doctorate program.
